Accepting new clients

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 25 years of experience. My expertise is working with clients to interrupt unhealthy relationship patterns within themselves and between others - partners, employers, and children. I believe we can create new inner narratives that can support a more authentic outer expression of oneself. I believe this has the value of not just healing inner wounds from the past but also to prevent them from being passed on to future generations. I consider it an honor and privilege to help every client navigate their own unique journey of self-discovery and emotional healing.

I am an EMDRIA Certified Consultant and EMDRIA Certified Therapist.  I am a certified Gestalt Therapist and a Harm Reduction practitioner. I bring all of these influences to my work.

My clients are often seeking relief from:

My clients are most often from the LGBTQ+ community. They are navigating creating families and at times parenthood in non-traditional ways. They are navigating life transitions, aging, and fertility challenges. My clients are quieting their inner critics and claiming more agency in their lives. They are healing from intrusive and restrictive inner voices and claiming their freedom to make more authentic choices in their relationships to themselves and to others. They are identifying healthy boundaries and navigating the grief that comes along with radical acceptance. My clients practice bravery, vulnerability and self-compassion.  I cherish the opportunity to support clients to have a more easeful relationship with themselves. I feel honored to witness clients confidently take the risks they want in life and compassionately care for themselves and their grief when life provides a disappointment or loss.

I was born in South Carolina and raised in Florida. I consider myself a southerner by heritage and a northerner by choice. My career began in Philadelphia where I completed a Master’s in Law and Social Policy and a Master in Social Services at Bryn Mawr College. It is also where I was became a member of ACT UP which influences me to this day. My life and work took me to San Francisco for 6 years where I had the fortune of experiencing queer community like never before.  I opened my individual clinical practice in New York in 2007 and expanded to create SteadyNYC in 2017.

I am a lifelong athlete. I am runner and a swimmer, and when I get the chance a Muay Thai kickboxer. Sports metaphors often make their way into my practice as a way of inspiring clients to overcome challenges and as a reminder of the importance of recovery and rest and self-compassion. I love the outdoors.  Lastly, I am also a forever learning parent, a grateful wife and the proud caregiver of my adopted Pitbull, Jewels.  If you think we’re a good fit, I’d welcome the opportunity to work with you.
