Group Psychotherapy in New York
Group therapy is a wonderful option address numerous emotional and mental health challenges. Being in a group allows participants to be seen and heard by individuals who are sharing their experience in some way. Group therapy can address a wide range of issues while always maintaining some commonality of shared experience or interest amongst the participants. This allows for shared experience while also allowing for each participant to be unique. Each of our groups is lead by an Associate with expertise in the topic of focus.
A support group provides an opportunity for people to share personal experiences and feelings, coping strategies, or firsthand information. For many people, a support group may fill a gap between individual therapy and the need for additional support. A support group can also be a more affordable option with fees usually ranging from $25-75 per group session.
How are support groups structured?
Currently all of our groups are online. Most of our groups are open to participants from anywhere in the United States. Each of our group is unique in it’s structure and it's content. The overall goal of our groups is to support participants on their journey of healing by fostering the crucial experience of being witnessed and being a witness. Groups can be an opportunity for individuals to expand their emotional capacities while in a supportive environment.
We at SteadyNYC feel strongly that the participants in any group have a voice in the format and focus that evolves out of a discussion with all participatns at the initiation of a groups. All groups begin with an initial session to identify the common agreements for all participants to have a productive, supportive and safe experience while in the group.
